A Path with a Thousand Sprouts
This dance and music performance is specifically addressed for little ones between 1-4 years. Elements introduced during encounters bring out different colors and textures, and allow the discovery of elements that grow in our underbrush.
What’s growing on my path? Trees, leaves, foliage, flowers? Horsetail and Mullein stand proudly. Honeysuckle clings and twists cheerfully. Fern unfurls with gusto while Columbine, Dandelion and Stinging Nettle stir and join the dance led by Poison Ivy and Ragweed. A contemporary dance performer and a musician invite you to pick and walk along the paths they’ve imagined together. Space is transformed. Sounds and gestures reveal the hidden treasures of nature that dance and vibrate within each of us. Essence awakens from the top of your head to the tips of your fingers and toes. Dance, sing, pulse and play with the artists as you discover.

The Collective

About the artists

A graduate in music, musicology, art therapy and psychopedagogy, Emmanuelle Lizère first devoted herself to teaching, before turning to the creation of musical performances for children. Her teaching activities, recordings and performances have led her to collaborate with many musicians, composers and international institutions working in the field of contemporary creation, such as the Institut de recherche et de coordination acoustique/musique (Ircam) and the Fondation Royaumont.
Living in Montreal since 2009, she has pursued her creative work with her company Tigouli, with several performances specially designed for very young audiences (4 months-3 years), where she combines her commitment to raising awareness of the sound environment with her interest in music with electronics. She performs regularly in the Petits Bonheurs network, in collaboration with the SMCQ, and at Royaumont.

Alexandra Caron is a movement artist, performer, teacher and youth cultural mediator in contemporary dance. She graduated in 2018 from the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal. Since then, she has been a member of the Margie Gillis Dance Foundation’s Heritage Project. Her artistic career has also led her to collaborate on projects with Ample Man Danse, Tigouli, Lumière Noire and pianist Zach Éli. Her first solo, Abyssale solitude, was presented at Tangente (2021) and at the Vue sur la relève festival (2022).
Alexandra also teaches contemporary dance for teens and adults, creative dance, parent-child dance and mother-baby dance. She is convinced that movement is an inexhaustible source of possibilities, and that trying this practice, regardless of age, is to discover oneself in a different way and to honour one’s sensations.
